Update

[For this post to make sense, you should read the previous post first. Sorry if that is a "duh."]

I got a strange idea and so went to one of the too few student computers in my class. I turned it on and, as I had hoped, the lack of updating the computers does not affect their ability to sign on to the Internet! So I can let my kiddies use the computers in the class. Somehow. If I can figure out how to get 30 kids onto 20 computers...

I have it!

They will have to take turns! And if they whine too much about that, they can just go ahead and write on paper!

Somehow I am feeling a little better about my upcoming teaching.

Art,

You know the old saying: "Teachers have done so much with so little for so long that now they think we can do everything with nothing!" Good luck with your computers. I hope they hold up. And maybe this year's students will see a little more value in the time they spend with you. Keep us posted!

Carla,

Serendipity is a great thing. The school's media center had most if its computers replaced. The old ones are gone (though no one seems to know quite where they are gone to). On the bright side, there were enough laser mice to replace all of the old trackball type mice in my classroom. That removes one more temptation from the students and the "nuetered mouse" problem from my class! lol
